Arklet Membership At Arklet we encourage all tenants, sharing owners, factored owners and service users to become members. Membership is also open to members of the wider community as well as local groups and organisations who share an interest in our aims and activities.
What does membership entitle you to do? As a member you will be invited to attend our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and any Special General Meetings. This enables you to vote on any relevant matters that are being decided upon. At the AGM, this includes the election of members to serve on our voluntary Management Board. (If you are unable to attend the meeting you can appoint someone to vote on your behalf by proxy).
You can also stand, if you wish for election to the Management Committee. The Management Committee establishes our aims and priorities for the year. It meets every six weeks to consider progress against these and make decisions about a range of other issues relating to the business of the Association. We have a policy that describes the role of our Committee and how you can become a member.
All membes receive a copy of our Annual Report and Accounts, providing a yearly detailed overview of our activities and finances.
We promote open membership and welcome applications from anyone over the age of 16 who is interested. We are commited to ensuring equality of opportunity and encouraging diversity and are keen to ensure our membership reflects the communities we service. There are very few occasions when we refuse membership, however, this might be the case if there is a clear conflict between your interests and ours.
How to Apply We have a detailed Membership Policy that explains this in full. If you would like to become a members, please request from our office or download our membership policy and/or membership leaflet and application form and return it to us with £1.00. This £1 will represent your share in Arklet. The Management Committee will consider your application at its next meeting. If your membership is approved, you should receive a share certificate shortly after to confirm.
