EP Pav BHA

FARE NEW BUILDING: BHA were involved from the early stages in providing practical support to FARE in raising funds and take forward the construction of their new building in Drumlanrig Avenue, Glasgow. This was a partnership approach involving Lochfield Park HA, Blairtummock HA and FARE. A newly constructed purpose built facility was completed in March 2010.

PAVILLION YOUTH CAFÉ: BHA worked with the What We Want group to help them to raise funds, appoint consultants and a contractor to construct Pavillion Youth Café. This now works well as a separate charity providing a large number of services to young people in the Blairtummock area as well as being a hub for the wider community.

20TH ANNIVERSARY GALA DAY: to celebrate 20 years of BHA a huge community event was taken forward by the BHA and other partners, notably Pavillion Youth Café and FARE. It was a great success with over 800 people attending and greatly enjoying themselves. Music and other entertainment were on offer as well as sporting competitions and other traditional gala day activities.

COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT: in late 2005, 23 local residents attended a series of six gardening sessions within the community hall and on completion of the training each of the residents had hedges planted within their gardens. The intention was to improve the appearance of the neighbourhood and to help residents to better understand how to look after their gardens; the project was a success in achieving both of these outcomes.

FUEL POVERTY DVD: The project consists of two parts: educating residents in aspects of energy efficiency and fuel poverty; and providing opportunities for local people to become involved in film making and develop the relevant skills for enjoyment, personal development and employment. To increase awareness of energy efficiency and prevent fuel poverty amongst residents, a series of educational workshops for residents will take place within Blairtummock Community Hall.
