Calvay Housing Association Ltd is a community controlled housing association operating in the Barlanark neighbourhood, which is located in the East End of Glasgow. The Association was established in 1985 to improve the housing conditions of local residents. Since then, the Association has gone on to refurbish in excess of 350 homes and completed four phases of new build, creating 120 new homes. In June of 2011 the Association passed a further milesone with the sucessful transfer of 390 homes from Glasgow Housing Association.
The Association also acts as factor for owner occupiers in its area. The driving aim of Board and Staff is not only to improve the housing conditions of residents, but to reduce social inequality and to create a viable and sustainable neighbourhood. As part of this wider aim, the Association has developed the Calvay Centre which delivers a wide range of services and opportunities to local people.
