To apply for housing you need to complete a registration form which asks for details of you, your household and your current living circumstances. When your form has been received and put on our joint housing list, you can start bidding for properties. This should take no more than 5 working days.
If you are in housing need, there are four housing need forms which allow you to apply for points to be awarded. If you apply for housing need points, you will need to provide the evidence required to demonstrate your need before points can be awarded.
The housing need categories and forms are shown below:
- Your home is unsuitable due to a medical condition - you need a Medical Application Form
- Your home is too big or too small - you need a Overcrowding & Under Occupation Form
- You don’t have a home or you are having to leave your home - you need a Homelessness, Threatened with Homelessness and Tied/Army Form
- Your home is in a poor condition, lacks basic amenities or is being demolished - you need an Unsatisfactory Housing & Regeneration Form.
A leaflet on the allocations policy can be downloaded here and a general guide to the applying to the ICHR can be downloaded here.
What if my application is not awarded any needs points?
Many applicants will not be awarded points. Applicants without points can still bid for empty properties, but will only be allocated them if no applicants with points awarded meet the conditions for the property. How long an applicant has waited will become more important as more applicants will have the same number of points.
If you have not applied for housing need points and you think you may qualify, please ask us for a points application form.
