The policy for letting houses is based on choice based lettings principles. Empty properties are advertised with a closing date and applicants are invited to bid for properties. This just means you letting us know you are interested in the property. The landlord then draws a list for each property only from the people who have said they are interested in it. The offer is made to the person whose household best fits the property in terms of size and type, and who has the most points. If more than one application has the same points as another, the date they applied for housing will decide who gets the offer.
We will advertise details of available properties in the weekly property section of the Greenock Telegraph from Tuesday 17th January 2012. Details of properties available are on our websites and available in our offices.
There may be restrictions on who can apply for a property. Any conditions or restrictions will be clearly advertised.
How do I bid?
Bidding can be done by phone, text, website, email, or in person to any of the Inverclyde CHR partners, but usually to the landlord of the property, which has been advertised. You need to quote your application number and the property reference number when you are bidding.
The results for each property are published so you can see exactly how close you were to getting an offer for any property you bid for. This helps you decide which houses you should bid for and gives you a very clear idea of what chance you have of getting what you want.
Cloch and OTHA will be running surgeries for applicants from the start of January 2012. If you need advice about your application or about bidding for properties, then contact either Cloch or OTHA for an appointment.
