  • Cinema event huge hit

    Over 200 customers of Cloch Housing Association, their children and grandchildren attended a private screening of the latest animated blockbuster, “Sing”, all in the name of Cloch’s latest initiative, FACE.   The event took place at Greenock’s Waterfront Cinema in the centre of the town and filled two of their cinema halls.

     

  • Beware of Bogus Callers

    The Association has received reports of Bogus Callers operating in the Inverclyde area and in particular the Aberfoyle Area.  Some have claimed to be working for local housing associations in conjunction with ongoing improvement works, energy companies or the council.  Anyone working on behalf of Cloch should carry an authorisation letter issued by Cloch at all times and we are happy for you to call us to check if it is a  genuine caller on 01475 783637.

  • Closure Over Christmas and New Year

    Our office will be closed over the Christmas and New Year. We will close on Friday 23rd December at 4:00PM and will reopen on Thursday 5th January 2017 at 9:00AM. Should you need to contact us for an emergency repair you can contact our out of hours emergency repairs service provided by Beild Response 24 on 0800 783 7937.

     

    NOTE: This will put you through to Bield Response 24 who will be the first point of call for reporting emergency repairs when the office is closed.

    As part of our drive to meet and talk toour customers, we held our Christmas Fair in the Auchmountain Halls inMaukinhill. This was a great success. We had over 100 customers from the EastEnd of Greenock attending.

     

  • Move to Gas Heating is Great Success

    Just under £1 Million of work was carried out in 2016 to install Combi-Boilers and Heating systems at MacGilliveray Avenue, Leitch Street, MacGregor Road and MacGowan Way.  The project also saw the houses connected to the national grid for their electricity and the gas supply installed and connected to a new gas supply network.  The work was completed on time and with great success.  This replaced the Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system that was installed when the houses were built in 2003.   The old CHP system was proving inconsistent in its performance.  The new heating systems mean tenants are in warm, energy efficient homes.

  • Million Investment in Greenock Properties (Blocks 1, 15 & 18 Aberfoyle Rd)

    Cloch Housing Association has just started external upgrade works to 36 flats in Aberfoyle Road Greenock in conjunction with Everwarm.   The total cost of the project is in the region of £1 Million.   The refurbishment of the three blocks of flats mainly involves insulation improvements, including the  rendering and re-roofing of the 3 blocks of flats and will enhance the overall appearance  of the buildings including close painting and new bin storage areas and improved drying greens, as well as external doors and ramps.  The contract architect/design team is ECD Architects

  • Aberfoyle Road Roof Retrofit, Residents Meeting

    A meeting will be held for Aberfoyle Road residents to discuss the works projected works to be carried out on 1, 15 & 18 Aberfoyle Road.   • Successful Season of Fundraising

    Cloch staff have hiked, ran through mud, worn their jeans to work and pink wigs, all in the name of fundraising this summer and autumn.  All this activity means they went on to raise over £7000 for a variety of Charities close to their hearts.

    Cloch Housing Association has appointed a new Chair after its successful 48th AGM.  The new Chair, Julianne Scarlett, has been on the Board for 3 years and takes over from Monica Sheekey who stepped down from the post this year after 4 years at the helm.  Monica is now Vice-Chair. Julianne is looking forward to steering Cloch through another successful and busy year.  Along with the Chair and Vice Chair, the new secretary appointed is Alison Greenhill.

  • Tributes to former Director Mairi Brown

    Cloch Housing Association was saddened to learn that its former Director, Mairi Brown passed away suddenly on 7th March 2016 at the age of 65.  A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Housing, Mairi led Cloch for 13 years before moving to East Kilbride Housing Association in 1999.

  • Changes to Housing Benefit Entitlement for New Tenants

    The Government have announced that people who start new tenancies in social housing from April 2016 will have their Housing Benefit capped to Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates (the amount payable to people who rent from private landlords) from April 2018.  This means that the government will apply the relevant Local Housing Allowance (LHA) rates as a maximum level for Housing Benefit payments in the social rented sector (including the Shared Accommodation Rate for single claimants aged under 35, pension age tenants and supported accommodation). 

     

  • Landscaping Programme Information

    As you may be aware ISS Landscaping services have been in preparation for the forthcoming 2016/2017 season.

    Following feedback from residents we are now publishing the program on our website to ensure that residents will be aware of when they can expect the contractors in their area and also what they will be doing when they are, as they won’t carry out the same work schedule on each visit.

    We have had several meetings with ISS and our own Clerk of Works and have agreed how the contract will be managed going forward, to ensure that performance improvement and resident satisfaction increases.

    Earlier this year we advised our residents served by the (Combined Heat & Power) CHP system that Cloch had agreed to replace the existing problematic and unreliable system with individual energy efficient gas combi boilers within each home. This would also require that a brand new gas and electricity supply network would also be installed. We are delighted to announce that our Committee granted approval in November to award the contract of replacing the CHP system at MacGillivary Avenue/ Leitch St estate following a recent procurement exercise.

    The Association has been working with our software supplier and other partners to organise a web portal that will allow our tenants to get access to some of the information we hold on rent accounts and repairs.  The system allows tenants to be able to access their rent account to check their rent balance, and also look at the status of repairs that have been reported for their home.

    One of our values at Cloch Housing Association is Customer Focus – and when developing and providing our services it is important that our customers’ needs come first.  We have listened to local residents and our customers and considered whether our opening hours were sufficient in providing the level of service which we want to be known for.  This has resulted in opening our doors and turning the phones on from 9am every morning and keeping it that way till 5pm – the only variations to that is on a Thursday when we remain open to 6pm and on Fridays when we close at 4pm.
