OTHI Lettings Initiative Launched

Oak Tree Housing Initiatives – Private Sector Lets delivered with the Oak Tree Style

Oak Tree Housing Association Ltd has a track record of developing and managing good quality homes in Inverclyde in the social rented sector. In partnership with Inverclyde Council, we have formed a subsidiary to help bring empty homes back into use and provide stable homes for people in the private sector. This has been piloted recently and is now operational.

We are working with private sector owners to identify empty good quality properties to make available to let. Grant and loan funding may be available to help bring them up to a suitable standard.

The Inverclyde Common Housing Register has more than 4000 applicants seeking rehousing in Inverclyde. The number of new applicants each year exceeds the number of lets for all the social landlords put together so the housing association’s cannot satisfy the demand. More than 75% of people seeking rehousing will be disappointed and will not be able to access a house with one of the social rented sector landlords. We want to expand the options open to people who may have little choice open to them by improving their options in the private sector.

More information is available in our document library.
