Tenant Fined For Allowing Their Dog to Foul in Play Area!

Officers from Glasgow City Council and Glasgow Community and Safety Services are employing new tactics to crack down on irresponsible owners who refuse to clean up after their pets.  As well as continuing to issue fixed penalty notices to those caught in the act, teams will, for the first time, use CCTV and witness statements to issue them retrospectively.  Dog wardens will uplift animals that are stray or not under proper control.

In addition to the fine received by the Pineview tenant, they are required to sign an ABC (Acceptable Behaviour Contract) along with the police and a representative of the Housing Association.  If the tenant offends again or breaches any part of the contract the Association can:

  • Make an application for possession of the tenancy
  • May make an application through the Sheriff Court for an Anti Social Behaviour Order, which if breached will be liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment
  • If an Anti Social Behaviour Order is granted the Security of the tenancy will be changed to a Short Scottish Secured Tenancy.

If you have a dog make sure you pick up their mess and dispose of it in your bin, if not you may be the next person to be caught offending and fined.  Report dog fouling and identify owners who do not clean up after their dogs to Clean Glasgow on 0800 027 7027
