Paying your Rent

The money that you pay for rent pays for all repairs that the Association’s properties need, it also helps to pay for the other housing services which Tollcross Housing Association provides. Therefore, it is vital that your rent is paid on time.

Your rent is due monthly in advance on or before the 28th day of each month. You can make as many payments as you wish i.e. weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Rent Arrears

The association expects the rent to be paid on or before the 28th of the month, one month in advance.

If you are unable to pay rent on the 28th of the month, you should contact your housing officer or the housing management team as soon as possible.

The sooner you notify us, the sooner the association can assist you and help to avoid substantial arrears accumulating and the possibility of any legal action being taking.

When you contact the association, a suitable arrangement will be agreed between you and the association, the association will ensure when an arrangement is made, is reasonable and within your means, taking into account any other debts, you may wish to discuss.

We also provide a Welfare Rights Officer, who can carry out an assessment of your benefit enitlement and give you debt advice.

Once you agree an arrangement with the association and continue to make the payments as agreed, the association will not take legal action.

REMEMBER - Persistent or high rent arrears can eventually lead to eviction, so it is important that you contact the association as soon as a problem with paying your rent arises - we are here to help you.

Housing Benefit

If you think you may be entitled to Housing Benefit you can contact the assocaition to receive advice and assistance from the Welfare Rights Officer to complete an application form, or you can complete an application form with Financial Services at 125 Westmuir Street, Glasgow, G31 5EX.
