Welfare Rights
Tollcross Housing Association offer a Welfare rights service to tenants 2 ½ days per week on all aspects of benefits and decisions, Tax credits, Debt and benefit check’s, Our welfare rights officer is Joe Penders who has worked in welfare benefits for approx 15 years.
We assist with benefit claims and assist tenants to claim many tens of thousands of pounds every year that would normally go unclaimed, We have offered this service for more than eight years and hundreds of tenants have benefited directly, dramatically improving their quality of life.
WHERE AND HOW
You can speak to Joe in the association’s office on a Tuesday or Wednesday morning at a drop in session 9.00am – 12.30pm or if you can’t manage or your problem is complex you can book an appointment on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon 2.00p.m. – 4.00p.m, Joe will be happy to visit you at home if necessary, home visits are available on a Thursday afternoon for disabled, housebound or tenants with care responsibilities.
We also support Tollcross community advice centre based in 937 Tollcross road offering information and advice on benefit and debt issues, providing training and employment advice, basic computing, we have Citizens Advice Bureau, East end advice centre and Job Centre Plus as well as B.C.D. credit union. This service is open to all Tollcross residents not only Tollcross Housing Association tenants.
