Being a good Neighbour

Tollcross Housing Association recognises the right of all people to live in their homes peacefully without undue disturbance and the detrimental effect anti-social behaviour can have on individuals and the community.

The association aims to provide a service effective at dealing with anti-social behaviour.  To achieve this aim, Tollcross Housing Association will work positively with all external agencies who can help deal with anti-social behaviour, including Strathclyde Police, Glasgow City Council, Environmental Protection Services, Mediation and other social landlords.

The association will encourage all residents to solve the issues themselves, before involving the association, formally.  The complainant will be provided with advice and assistance on how to do this, however, if the complainant has expressed an unwillingness to take this action, then the Housing Officer will investigate all reports of anti-social behaviour/neighbour disputes, provide advice on the action the association can take to help resolve the issue to those complaining of anti-social behaviour and to offer guidance on sources of appropriate support for victims of anti-social behaviour.

Confidentiality will be respected wherever possible and tenants concerns treated with sensitivity. Where it is not practical to respect confidentiality due to the nature of the complaint e.g. one against one the complainant will be advised, before further action is taken.

If you feel you have a complaint which you wish the Association to deal with, a Neighbour Complaint Form should be completed.  This form can be found in the important documents section: Click Here or requested from the office.  There are also Diary Sheets, which can be found in the important documents section, Click Here, these can be used to monitor the incidents and record when the police were contacted.

It is essential that you telephone the Police at the time of the incident, remembering to take a note of the time and date, so that the association can ask for a Police Report.  This information can be helpful when dealing with your complaint.

Noise Nuisance

The Association receives numerous complaints relating to issues of noise nuisance. To assist in the investigation of these complaints it is useful to have verification of a persistent noise problem from a source such as the Police or Glasgow City Council’s, Environmental Services Department.  They are available to the public every day between 5.00pm and 2.00am on 0800 595 595 or 287-6529 during the day.

Pet Registration

You must obtain the Association’s permission in advance, before keeping any domestic pet within the property.  Pets include dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and rodents.  Permission will not normally be granted for more than 1 cat or 1 dog to be kept in each property.

You must provide us with information about the type of pet, its colour, size and description.  To download a Pet Registration Form, Click here.

Permission can be withheld:

If keeping the pet would be likely to cause a nuisance, annoyance or danger to your neighbours;

If the Association has previously withheld permission for keeping a pet;

If keeping your pet is prohibited by the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, or any other by-law.

The Association expects all residents to supervise their pets and keep them under control at all times, within the common parts of the property.  Permission to keep a pet will be withdrawn if the tenant fails to adhered to the conditions of their tenancy agreement.

Graffiti Removal

Did you know that all residents in Glasgow can take advantage of Glasgow City Council’s free graffiti removal service (for communal areas), by calling 0800 027 7027.  Please don’t leave graffiti for someone else to report! - help maintain the look of your area by reporting graffiti promptly to the above number.

House Contents Insurance

If you would are interested in finding out more about House Contents Insurance, please contact the assocaition’s office and we will send you out a leaflet and application form, for the Crystal Insurance scheme, with Jardine Lloyd Thompson.
