What do the Management Committee do?
The Management Committee welcome new people who are interested in taking part in supporting their community.  The role of the Management Committee is to take important decisions about the future direction of the Association, setting objectives and targets to meet these objectives, ensuring that policies meet the requirements of the Association and the community and employing staff to manage the Association on a day to day basis.  The Management Committee meets generally once a month but there are other Committees that meet every three months or as and when they are required.  Management Committee members receive training to help them in their role and sometimes the experience of being a voluntary Committee Member can help people get a job.  No payment is made to Committee Members but out of pocket expenses such as travelling, meals and childminding may be claimed.

How do I become a Committee Member?
The following are the steps required to become a Committee Member.

Become a Member
You require to become a member of Pineview Housing Association Ltd in order to be eligible to be elected to the Management Committee.  The Association has two categories of membership.  These are Tenant Members and General Members.  Tenant members are tenants, joint tenants or tenants and their spouse or partner.  General Members are anyone living in a tenants’ household and registered there, any sharing owners or owner occupiers living in the Association’s areas.  Life membership costs £1.  (See Important Document Section for an Application Form).

Get elected
Once you are a member you are eligible to be nominated for a place on the Management Committee or to vote in someone that you think would be a good Committee Member.  The Association holds an Annual General Meeting each year and it is at this meeting that elections for the Management Committee are held.  (See Important Documents Section for Nomination Form)

What if I miss being nominated at the Annual General Meeting?
You could fill a casual vacancy if someone leaves the Committee or fill a co-opted position.  (See Important Documents for relevant Application Forms)

What if I am not eligible to become a member?
If you have an interest in joining the Management Committee because you have skills and knowledge which may help us, you could be co-opted on the Management Committee.  (See Important Documents Section for Co-option Application Form)
