Applying for Housing
Who can apply for housing?
Pineview Housing Association Ltd operates an open access housing list and anyone aged 16 or over can be admitted to the housing list.
The Association's Allocations Policy, Housing Application, Internal Transfer Application and Medical Assessment forms can be downloaded from our Important Documents Page. Alternatively you can contact the office in person, phone 0141 944 3891 or e-mail mail@pineview.org.uk with your request.
Dealing with your application
Applicants will receive an acknowledgement letter within 7 days of submitting an application advising that they have been admitted to the housing or transfer list.
Assessment of Need
Applications are assessed in accordance with the Association’s Allocations Policy which adheres to the principals of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001 to ensure reasonable preference for housing is given to persons who:
- Are living in sub standard accommodation; or
- Are occupying overcrowded houses; or
- Are living under unsatisfactory housing conditions; or
- Are homeless or threatened with homelessness
Applications are assessed within 28 days of being submitted and after this time applicants are notified in writing of their priority for rehousing, together with a breakdown of how points have been assessed. Applicants will not be considered for an allocation until the assessment process is completed and they are eligible to be housed.
There is more demand for housing than supply, particularly in popular family type properties, disabled adapted and larger properties such as 4 or 5 apartments. Applicants should be aware that even with high priority for rehousing, we may not be able to meet their needs. Applicants should also be aware that their position on the list can change on a regular basis as new applicants are admitted to the list.
Allocation of Properties
The Association takes into consideration issues other than extreme housing need and believes that factors such as household types and sizes, economic activity, special needs, support requirements and the ability to choose are important in ensuring a balanced, stable community. Therefore the Allocations Policy contains a Letting Plan which is operated in conjunction with a quota system to allocate properties to the various groups of applicants, these are:
- Housing List (External Applicants) 37%
- Transfer List (Housing Need) 20%
- Transfer List (Aspiration) 20%
- Homeless Persons 19%
- Referrals/Special Cases 4%
Applicants will require to be visited by Pineview staff before any offer of housing can be made. In addition, tenancy checks will be carried out with any current/previous landlord following this visit, where applicable.
Shared Ownership
All shared ownership properties are currently occupied and there are no plans in the foreseeable future to build any more. However, individual owners may wish to sell their shares and you can place your name on the Association’s Reserve List to allow the Association to contact you where the shared owner requests assistance to sell their shares. If you are interested in being placed on the Reserve List complete an enquiry form on the Contact Us page.
Allocation’s Surgery
Should you require assistance to complete your application, advise of a change in your circumstances or have a general query regarding your application, a member of staff will be available to assist you on a Tuesday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm in the Association’s office at 5 Rozelle Avenue.
