Welcome to Trafalgar
Trafalgar Housing Association was formed in 1990 when it took over the council estate consisting of 218 three and four storey tenement flats in Trafalgar Street in Dalmuir, Clydebank.
Over the next 10 years the poor condition of the properties was addressed through a comprehensive modernisation programme. Demolition and redevelopment of part of the estate allowed the association to bring a greater diversity of house type and create environmental improvements by redesigning the original streetscape and providing play and sports areas.
Since April 2003 the Trafalgar area has been monitored by our own CCTV system that allows surveillance of open spaces and common areas to help reduce vandalism and street disorder in the area. The CCTV system was upgraded in October 2007.
The Terraces area was transferred to Trafalgar in January 1998 and comprised 180 tenement flats. A combination of poor housing quality, a steeply sloping site and poor ground conditions resulted in the total demolition of the site. The redevelopment programme, in consultation with the local tenants, resulted in a new housing mix of large family houses and smaller flats which was completed in Summer 2003 and resulted in a total transformation of the area.
Over the last 17 years, over £20,000,000 of public and private investment has been made in the two estates.
Our association is still relatively small with just over 300 properties but we are fortunate to have amongst the best quality stock within West Dunbartonshire. It is our aim to manage and maintain our stock to a high standard and where possible widen our service to others.
We hope you will find this website both interesting and helpful. Please take the time to browse through all the sections and to give us feedback on the service we provide and the site itself.
