New Three Villages Community Hall in Arrochar gets Royal seal of approval!
The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay visited the new Three Villages Community Hall in Arrochar 3 June 2010. The Arrochar and Tarbet Community Development Trust campaigned for over 10 years to put the heart back into the local community for a range of facilities and spaces including recreational activities and learning opportunities and this Village Campus has gone a long way to meet their ambitions; now they are tackling the provision of external play space and a marina on Loch Long.
Dunbritton Housing Association has been supporting the Trust since 2002 by paying Community Links Scotland to work with them in their business planning, fundraising efforts and overseeing the construction of the Campus.
As Duncan MacLachlan, Chair of the Community Development Trust said: “It proves that if you believe in something, you can really make it happen.”
Following on from the recent accolade of Village of the Year 2009 this Royal visit was a tremendous and proud moment for everyone involved.
The Three Villages Hall already has organisations coming from across the UK to take advantage of the stunning surroundings. There is a whole host of activities that can be held here including corporate away days, wedding receptions, street dance workshops, youth clubs, educational visits and drama productions.
At their visit the Royal couple unveiled a plaque in the main hall and met with representatives from funding partners who had been instrumental in fundraising and supporting the Trust to provide the community with a much needed new hall.
