Paying your rent
PAYING RENT
We offer various options for payment of rent to make it as convenient as possible for tenants to pay their rent when it is due.
It is important that you pay your rent on time, not only because you are required to do so under the terms of your tenancy agreement, but also because we use the income generated from rent to allow us to manage and maintain our properties and the environment.
PAYMENT OF RENT
Rent is payable in advance on or before the 28th of each month. You can pay your rent in the following ways:
By Direct Debit/Standing Order. Forms are available from our office on request.
By Allpay Card. The card can be used in any post office or shop displaying the Allpay/Payzone sign.
Online using debit or credit card at: https://www.allpayments.net
At any branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The association's bank account is at the Royal Bank of Scotland, Sylvannia Way, Clyde Shopping Centre. You can make payment at any branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland using your bank giro payment book. However, if you pay at another branch, your payment will take a bit longer to reach your rent account.
At the Association's Office. You should only pay your rent using this method if you have made an agreement with one of the housing officers.
RENT PAYMENT DIFFICULTIES
If you are struggling to pay your rent, it is important that you contact the association straight away.
You will be able to talk to a housing officer who will try to help you resolve the problem and put you in touch with other agencies who may be able to help you.
Although we take a sympathetic view if people are experiencing difficulties with paying their rent, we have to maximise the association's income and will take action against any tenant who refuses to pay their rent or fails to keep to an agreed arrangement for repaying their arrears.
HOUSING BENEFIT
Housing Benefit (rent rebate) is administered by West Dunbartonshire Council and is a government subsidy to help people on lower incomes to pay their rent. If you think you might qualify for housing benefit and wish to apply, application forms are available from West Dunbartonshire Council's offices or from the association's office.
When making an application, it is important that you send in all the requested information as failure to do so can delay your claim being processed or even cancelled.
