Tollcross Community Advice Centre
The Tollcross Community Advice Centre has been operating successfully for 2 years in a refurbished shop front at 937 Tollcross Road.
The Centre provides the local community with advice on debt and a wide range of benefits. Veronica Telfer, Project Co-ordinator and a team of volunteers also run the Tollcross BCD Credit Union which provides a full range of financial services and allows local people to save and take out loans.
The programme of events at the Centre has included Easy Spanish, Computing for Beginners and one-off events such as a Road Safety Event aimed at school children. The 2009 programme of events can be viewed by clicking here.
The Centre works in partnership with many other organisations such as Playbusters, Job Centre Plus and Glasgow East Regeneration Agency to deliver services to local people.
The Centre has been successful in securing funding until March 2011 and there is a Steering Group made of local residents, elected members and organisations who will be working on a business plan to ensure we can keep the Project for the benefit of the local community of Tollcross. The funding will help to continue running the popular advice services, Credit Union and volunteer projects.
