New Hillhead Homes
New Homes for Hillhead!
In 2006 the Association received outline planning consent from East Dunbartonshire for our Masterplan for Hillhead. The views and comments from tenants and residents at the community workshops and open days were all considered as part of our proposals which include some radical redesign of the area:-
- Construction of up to 190 new homes
- Demolition of 186 flats
- Creation of 2 Homezones
- Redesign and new roads at Ivanhoe Drive, Border Way and Abbotsford Drive
- Newbuild homes for gap site at Lammermoor Road
- All homes to be built to meet Housing for Varying Needs Standard
- All homes to be built to meet Secured by Design Standard
- New play and recreational areas
- Principles of sustainable design will be incorporated throughout
To date we have built 45 new homes (Phase 1) with a further 26 new homes coming off site in February and March 2010 at our development at Newdyke Road ( Phase 2). This development comprises 2 wheel chair family sized houses, 8 terraced villas, and 16 cottage flats.
Phase4, which comprises 34 new homes is on site at Highfield Road and Meiklehill Road and is due to be completed by the autumn 2010. It also comprises 2 family sized semi detached villas, 19 terraced villas and 13 cottage flats. Tenants for both phases 2 and 4 are being rehoused from our demolition stock at Ivanhoe Drive, Border Way and Abbotsford Drive.
In 2011 we hope to be in a position to start clearing the flats at Ivanhoe Drive, Border Way and Abbotsford Drive in the Spring and redevelop the site with up to 87 new homes. (Phase 3).
As well as developing new homes each development will include new roads and traffic calming measures and some green space redevelopment.
Tenants who are pre-allocated tenancies in the newbuild are also offered a choice of paint colours for their rooms and a choice of kitchen fittings and worktops.
